About CRNA Jobs

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists or CRNAs are highly trained and experienced nurses with the authority to deliver anesthesia. CRNA jobs are a fantastic anesthesia option for rural or underserved areas that cannot afford an anesthesiologist. However, it should be noted that CRNAs carry a heavy load of responsibility are are compensated fairly for the amount of care they must provide with their line of work.

CRNAs can work in the following facilities:

  • Hospital Surgical Suites
  • Obstetrical Delivery Rooms
  • Critical Access Hospitals
  • Ambulatory Surgical Centers
  • Dentist Offices
  • Podiatrist Offices
  • Ophthalmologist Offices
  • Plastic Surgery Facilities
  • Pain Management Facilities
  • Military Public Health Services
  • Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare Facilities

In addition to working alone, CRNAs can collaborate and work in a team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, dentists, podiatrists, and many other qualified healthcare professionals. CRNAs and anesthesiologists give anesthesia in the same manner. The only difference is the level of training that CRNAs receive.

In order to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist, a nurse must first complete a bachelor’s degree program in nursing and obtain a registered nursing license. After completing one year of acute care experience in either an ICU or ER and finishing an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program, nurses can then take the national certification examination. All nurses must pass an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program to be certified by the National Board on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.

Nurses are excellent and hardworking health care professionals. They go through extensive training and study just like physicians. Many times, their experience requirements are even greater than normal physicians.  As a CRNA, you have earned a place among highly trained anesthesiologists.
