Description

Hospitalist Opportunities - Metro Minneapolis, MN!!

Department Description:

The Department currently consists of approximately 25 Internal Medicine and Family Practice Physicians specializing in acute inpatient care. The Hospitalist Program is supported by more than 50 Primary Care Physicians who participate in rounding and admitting shifts in the hospital. Our department was founded in 1996 as one of the first Hospitalist groups in the country.

Department leadership consists of the Chairperson of the Hospitalist Department who reports directly to the Chief of Inpatient Care. The Department is supported by administrative and nursing staff. The Hospitalist Program Committee provides oversight and support, and is comprised of elected members from both the Hospitalist and Primary Care staff. Regular meetings are held to discuss issues and improvements to the program.

Hospital:

Hospital is a 426 bed community hospital that has undergone significant renovation and expansion over the last several years, including a state-of-art Heart and Vascular Center, and the Cancer Center. All adult medical and surgical subspecialties are available to assist in the care of our patients. We have an active Interventional Radiology Department that is capable of performing all necessary procedures. The ICUs are staffed by Critical Care Physicians who manage our ventilated and critically ill patients. Hospital has been the recipient of numerous national awards for the quality of care that we provide.

Patient Care:

We provide primary inpatient care for patients of the Clinic, in addition to patients of independent groups in the area who have contracted with us for this service. We are also responsible for the majority of patients lacking a primary care physician who seek care at our hospital. We provide consultative services for our surgical colleagues and assist with care for the patients in our Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Program.

Scheduling:

One of the strengths of our hybrid program is the ability to offer a variety of different schedules. The Chairperson of the Department works individually with each hospitalist to determine the best fit for that physician. Hospitalists will be expected to participate in off hour shifts, and work a minimum of 12 weekends per year. Daytime rounding shifts begin at 7 am, and physicians are expected to remain available by pager until 6 pm each day. Physicians on the daytime service will take admissions until approximately 3 pm. There are 4 staggered 8 hour admitting shifts throughout the evening and night as well as one cross cover only shift from 6 – 10 pm. Our primary care physicians participating in the Hospitalist Program are asked to work 50 hospital shifts per year, and our core hospitalists are considered full-time at 204 shifts per year.

Compensation:

We offer competitive compensation which is based primarily on productivity with stipends for weekend and off hour work. There is a first year salary guarantee.

CME, etc:

We offer a generous CME account.

Maintenance of ACLS certification required.

Participation in clinic and hospital committees is encouraged.
