LOCATION: CT--about an hour from NYC
$110/hr
BEGIN ASAP!!!!

Functional Title: Physician
Employment Type: Two days a week, seven hours each day, 7:00 am to 2:30 pm

Type of Facility: Addiction Recovery Program
Preferred Specialties Addiction Medicine (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Candidates)

Job Purpose/Function: (the main contribution of the function to the total organization.)

This position is responsible for ongoing medical services at the site assigned. The physician is expected to interface effectively with management and facilitate implementation of the agency mission and support effective working relationships between medical, clinical and auxiliary staff. Specifically, this position will: 1) strengthen and enhance agency medical practices, 2) provide and/or arrange appropriate medical education/training to medical staff and 4) provide outreach and coordination with program referral sources.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide medical services to residential and outpatient clients.
Perform admission/annual history and physical examinations per agency guidelines; screen for appropriateness for program admission.
Prescribe medications according to programs Pharmacotherapy policies and procedures, compliant with all federal and state regulations and accreditation standards.
Perform client consults; determine need for referral to outside primary or specialty care and/or referral internally for psychiatric evaluation.
Provide the delivery of quality medicine to clients
Stay abreast of developments in addiction medicine and regularly communicate relevant information
Participate in meetings, business development and governmental/regulatory matters as appropriate
Perform clinical services within the scope of a mutually agreed upon and signed collaborative agreement with the medical director (physician).

Manage the medical services unit.
Bring new ideas to the agency regarding current medical trends and real-world applications.
Work collaboratively with team members to diagnose, manage and evolve patient care
Identify patient needs requiring medical management outside of the program's offerings.
Continually review operations to assure that the agency’s mission and highest standards of medical care and regulations/accreditation standards are met.
Assure medication assisted treatment services are compliant with all federal and state regulations and accreditation standards.
Maintain ability to dispense methadone and provide coverage for methadone nurses to maintain uninterrupted dispensing service.
Provide new staff job-specific training and ongoing cross-training for medical staff.
· Actively participate in the agency’s policy and procedure process.
Review current medical policies and procedures; revise policies as appropriate.
Create new policies and procedures when needed.
Implement all new and revised medical policy and procedures.
Participate on the agency’s Practice Standards Committee.

Medical services unit operations at optimal capacity and efficiency.
Admission physicals are conducted promptly and admissions are not delayed.
Annual physicals are completed by client anniversary dates.
Consults are conducted as scheduled.
Unit budget is maintained.
Staff coverage is adequate at all times.

Education and Experience Required:

· Three to five years of direct care, management and leadership experience in licensed field of practice.

· Considerable knowledge of principles of addiction treatment; practical experience in the field of addiction treatment is preferred. Thorough knowledge of current federal, state and CARF accreditation regulations and standards.

· A work history that demonstrates clear leadership, accomplishment and the ability to get work accomplished on time, on budget and within predetermined specifications.

· Computer literate. Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Outlook.

· Strong oral and written communication skills along with the interpersonal skills to work effectively at all levels of the organization and its stakeholders.
