Practice Opportunity Profile Ð Hospitalist
Practice Description: Growing hospitalist program administered by multi-specialty clinic being coordinated with local community hospital. Responsibilities include percentage of admissions, rounding on floors and inpatient IM consultations.
Training: Categorical internal medicine program, hospitalist experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills required.
Caseload Averages: Average 15-18 inpatients per day.
Call Rotation: 7 days on /7 days off. 24 by 7 in-patient shared responsibilities,
Call shared with rotating hospitalists.
Compensation/Benefits: $210,000 guaranteed minimum for up to 2 years (higher salary with experience).
$10,000 signing bonus; up to $10,000 Relocation; $5,000 CME annually.
Compensation potential up to $275,000. Based on a worked RVU formula
and hospital-based quality incentive measures.
Membership/Partnership: Eligible after 2 years.
Reimbursement Environment: No managed care contracts, excellent fee for service reimbursement (well above Medicare) from all commercial and PPO insurance companies.
Residency/ Fellowship preferences: Completion of U.S. internal medicine residency. Expected to be board certified at time of hire or within three years of hire.
Number of existing physicians in specialty: Seven full time hospitalists. Seven general IM plus subspecialty internal medicine.
Description of Practice environment (number of patient rooms, staff compliment, equipment available): No outpatient practice requirement.
Description of Hospital environment (as it applies to your specialty): Modern, financially strong, full service 320-bed single community hospital with a 23-bed closed ICU. Except for transplant services, all specialties are represented. Hospital located less than 1 mile from Clinic. Clinic managed hospitalist program with Hospital in 2008 to serve entire patient community.
