Pediatrician Opportunity in Historic Southwest Virginia!!
Opportunity to join an established 3-physician single specialty practice in Southwest
VA. The new hire will assume an existing practice of a Pediatrician who left the area for family
obligations. Group is the only Pediatric practice in the city.
The Office:
It is an independent 3 member pediatric practice covering new-born, infant,
child and adolescent practice since 1994. The position available is for a
BC/BE Pediatrician to replace a partner who left the practice recently. The physicians will
share 1 in 4 call for the Hospital where they cared for 600 newborns in 2009.
Outpatient practice is 4 days a week (on a rotating schedule) with single coverage for Saturday
morning clinics in the winter. Full staff support for clinical, office and other functions is
provided.
This practice has been open for 16 years. The practice is physician owned, independent, and
in the process of building a new facility that will open in conjunction with the new hospital
facility, set for summer 2011. The practice has used EMR for several years, but recently
purchased a pediatric based EMR that guarantees Òmeaningful useÓ.
Schedule, Volume, and Case Breakdown:
The physicians of the group care for newborns, inpatient and outpatient pediatric
patients. In 2009, 600 newborns were delivered at the Hospital. Schedule will
be 1 in 4 call and outpatient schedule is 4 week days in the office (1 week - day off). Weekend
call is Saturday 7am until Monday at 7am. A typical out-patient schedule is difficult to predict
but varies from 17 to 40 from summer to flu season with annual daily average for the four
physicians varied from 23 to 30 in 2009. Office hours are scheduled from 9am until 5pm but
may be later in the winter.

Service Area: The city draws from a large number of smaller communities in southwestern
Virginia.
Payor Mix: Commercial/Private Pay: 38% Medicaid: 37% Managed Care: 25%
FINANCIAL AND BENEFITS PACKAGE Year One Compensation:
The first year salary guarantee will be provided by the Hospital.
The hospital is prepared to offer an income subsidy for an incoming physician, depending on
experience. They will also consider a significant signing bonus and relocation assistance.
There is a one year track to partnership.

are eligible to participate in the companyÕs 401k plan which is structured to allow maximum
contributions by physicians if they so choose. 4 weeks of vacation and 1 week continuing
medical education complete the package.
Buy-In Example: Partnership is available after one year with very low buy-in.
Note: Hospital will assist with relocation.
