Seeking BC Radiation Oncologist for beautiful, new 200,000 sq ft Cancer Center

Seeking a board certified radiation oncologist to join two others at the Hospital and Health Center. It is a 545-bed, non-profit, Catholic facility and the regional referral center for the Health System and surrounding five-state area. The Cancer Institute is a state of the art facility that opened in November 2010 with 270,000 square feet dedicated to clinical space and supportive services.

The Cancer Institute has two external beam radiation therapy suites, both housing a Siemens ARTISTE linear accelerator. The 160 MLC ARTISTES feature perfectly matched beam models, allowing infinite flexibility. The ARTISTES allow us to perform IGRT (2-D digital portal imaging and 3-D conebeam), IMRT and SBRT procedures.

The only dedicated Brachytherapy Suite in the region is located at the Cancer Institute. This suite features a Nucletron HDR afterloader, along with a Simulix Evolution, which provides detailed, high resolution images for brachytherapy procedures. The Oncentra treatment planning system is utilized for each case.

We recently implemented intra-operative radiation therapy using the Mobetron electron-beam mobile linear accelerator. Participation in the Breast IOeRT HIOB trial based out of Salzburg, Austria, is the primary focus of our IntraOp program, and many exciting opportunities await as the program continues to develop.

The Cancer Institute also features a wide-view GE Lightspeed RT 16 Ct Simulation Scanner, the SonArray ultrasound unit which provides IGRT for prostate external beam cases, a Varis prostate seed planner and a robust prostate seed implant program, the ADAC Pinnacle Smart-Enterprise Treatment Planning Software, and ElektaÕs MOSAIQ EMR software.

The Cancer Institute is accredited by the AmericanCollege of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Program. It earned the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2010 for exceeding the accreditation standards. The Cancer Institute partners with the Research Institute in which National Cancer Institute clinical trials are supported by dedicated research nurses and staff.
